It’s officially Valentine’s Day 2016. And there’s one thing you can always count on about Valentine’s Day even if you can’t count a body or a Valentine – new R&B.

Just as in years past, select R&B artists have put up goodies in honor of the season of love. So, whether you’re spending the day solo, with friends, or with that special someone, you’ll at least have a soundtrack to pass the time with. Below, you can check out three projects from R&B artists dropped on or just before Cupid’s Day. Press play with love in mind, and here’s wishing you a very Happy (and unbitter) Valentine’s.

Eric Bellinger – Eventually

Eric Bellinger - Eventually_cover

Fresh off releasing the first and second installments of his Cuffing Season album series, Eric Bellinger gets back to the business of crafting bedroom grooves with his latest EP, Eventually. The nine-track project features production from The Nominees, Bizness Boi, Bongo, DJ Camper, League of Starz, and more, and has enough slow jam fare to set a mood for you and your boo. Keep “Lay Up” in your consistent rotation and play “Designer” if you’re having your baby over for dinner. Just trust me on this one.

DJ Auditory x Tank – Sex Love & Pain II C&S

DJ Auditory x Tank - SLP_CS

Houston folks already know – when DJ AudiTory chops & screws an album, it’s likely going to sound better than the original every time. As a Valentine’s Day treat, DJ AudiTory dropped his purpled-up version of Tank’s recent Sex Love & Pain II LP. SLPII by itself was already monstrous, with the perfect blend of slow jams, classic R&B, and even a club track (“BDAY”). But Tory’s take adds a little more flavor to an already solid album. Word for the wise: save Tory’s C&S take on Tank’s “Fuckin’ Wit’ Me” and “Already in Love” for when it’s darker outside. Your bae will appreciate it.

Mýa – Smoove Jones LP

Mya - Smoove Jones_cover

You can’t say Mýa hasn’t been consistent. The gorgeous singer – who hasn’t seemed to age one bit in spite of the fact that she’s been in the music industry for 18 years and counting – has dropped something on Valentine’s Day every year since 2013, and 2016 is no exception. However, this year is a little more special because Smoove Jones is not only an album, but the first album released under Mýa’s indie label Planet 9.

Propelled forward by lead singles “Welcome to My World” and “Team You,” Smoove Jones is a kind of concept album, the titular character (played by Mýa herself) serving as a DJ keeping a playlist on deck throughout the night. The lovely songbird teased snippets on her Instagram in the days leading up to the LP’s release, but the snippets were really just the tip of the iceberg. The sassy “Spoil Me” (on which Mýa insists, “Spoil me, baby – I want it all!”), the disco-dance “Circle of Life (Ol’ Skoo Joint),” and the funky “Elevator” should all find a home in your steady rotation.
