Lianne La Havas - Fairytale

Lianne La Havas’ sophomore album, BLOOD, was arguably criminally overlooked by the mainstream. The Grammys, to their credit, recognized the value in La Havas’ half-R&B, half-folk-soul masterwork – BLOOD is nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album, alongside The Internet’s Ego Death and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness, to name a few – but in general, the gorgeous singer of the “Green & Gold” didn’t get half of the credit she deserved.

That may explain why La Havas is revisiting the album with BLOOD: Solo, a six-track EP that releases on February 12th. In addition to bringing back select cuts from the LP itself, BLOOD: Solo will also contain a previously unreleased song, “Fairytale.” The song was premiered by Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1 Radio this afternoon, and you can check it out below. Propelled forward by the strums of an acoustic guitar, “Fairytale” lets La Havas’ falsetto flourish for nearly five minutes, as she sings of a star-crossed kind of love.

In addition to releasing her BLOOD: Solo EP this Friday, Lianne La Havas will also join Leon Bridges on the fall leg of his 2016 tour. She’ll be in the building alongside Bridges at the Dallas Music Hall at Fair Park on September 18th.
