Gallant - Skipping Stones f. Jhene Aiko

Does the name Gallant sound familiar to you? If it doesn’t yet, don’t worry – it will.

Gallant was formally introduced to the world by way of Red Bull’s “20 Before 16” series last year by way of his collaboration with James Fauntleroy, “Borderline.” Unsurprisingly, the Los Angeles crooner signed with Red Bull Sound Select. Now, Gallant is giving listeners his first drop of 2016, a duet of sorts with Def Jam songbird Jhené Aiko entitled “Skipping Stones.”

Grabbing Adrian Younge for the beat – with Stint handling co-production – Gallant marries the old school with the new on “Skipping Stones.” Younge and Stint balance percussion and the softest of guitar strums over which Gallant’s falsetto announces itself unapologetically. Feature Aiko slides right on in, her breathy voice a contrast to Gallant’s for a perfect marriage of smooth soul, even amidst the track’s tale of going about love in the wrong way.

The Jhené Aiko-assisted “Skipping Stones” will be available for retail as a two-track release with previous single previous single “Borderline” on Friday, February 5th. For now, you can take in Gallant’s “Skipping Stones” for yourself down below.
