With the release of No Defeat II (We Gone Make It), we’ve officially gone deep into Tunk‘s mind and outwardly recesses for three solid tapes under this moniker. It’s all about not losing for Tunk. Not losing family members, not finding his body and mind trapped in a prison. None of it. If Tunk has his way, he’s fighting a bear, a shark, half of the Dallas Cowboys offensive line, any of them to prove that he lives by the message preached on No Defeat II

But the charismatic emcee from the D also believes in the power of connectivity. That’s why Tunk stretched his Rolodex to make sure Brooklyn’s Breeze The Beat Machine is the lone producer in his ear. He argues against gun violence and state sanctioned killings through the eyes of his mother on “10 Shots” with Paris Pershun, calling out the want for conservatives to show up only when shit goes bad in the city. Mga-Czar & Rick Blaine show up on “Make It Reign” and Tunk even spends time paying tribtue to Houston’s Brad Jordan on “Scarface The Rapper”. His rasp has always been punchy, always rolled up and down like an automatic window and ready to rattle off thoughts, angers, fears, sins and more. All of it comes to a boil with the 18-tracks that make up No Defeat II.
