Most of the country has spent the day honoring Martin Luther King and his memory. In New York City, a large gathering of black celebrities have joined to take part in an event called #MLKNOW. The event, created by Blackout for Human Rights & Campaign for Black Male Achievement has the likes of J.Cole, Chris Rock, Ava DuVernay, Michael B. Jordan, Ryan Coogler, Tessa Thompson and more reciting speeches from Martin Luther King, James Baldwin, Fred Hampton, Malcolm X, Angela Davis & more. The event is taking place at Harlem’s Riverside Church, the same location of King’s 1967 speech “Beyond Vietnam: A Time To Break Silence”.

Activists celebs and more are delivering speeches and motivational talks in the spirit of the revolutionist. There will be also be a panel held by Creed director Ryan Coogler, Creed actress Tessa Thompson, publisher Rahiel Tesfamariam, Arab-American Association of New York executive director Linda Sarsour, Million Hoodies Movement for Justice executive director Dante Barry, filmmaker and Sakofa.org co-director Gina Belafonte and more. UPDATE: Watch the full interview between J.Cole & Ryan Coogler from #MLKNOW below. Coogler admits that its his first time interviewing anyone and Cole doesn’t seem reluctant to talk about anything. The interview instead turns into a full blown conversation between adults, even when Coogler accidentally lets it slip that J.Cole secretly got married.
