Oh Francis J. Underwood, how could we go through this election year without your cold, murderous heart? Last night, a promo trailer ran for the upcoming fourth season of House of Cards with Kevin Spacey sitting in the Oval Office, delivering a speech to the American public. The only difference between Spacey’s speech and that of any current real life political contender? His greatest hits were inter-spliced through all of it.

“They say we get the leader we deserve,” Underwood says as he stares at the camera which doubles as his usual trademark breaking of the Fourth Wall. “A leader whose not afraid to look you in the eye and tell you what he believes,” he explains.

He continues, “I believe in putting people first. I believe in putting America back on track. I believe in opening doors. I’m a humble man. I’ve never forgotten where I’ve come from.”

If that sounds like Frank Underwood acting like any normal politician, its because he is. House of Cards ended last season with Underwood doing his best to not only save his marriage but also kick start his re-election campaign. Though its unclear whether or not this upcoming fourth season will start with Underwood on the campaign trail attempting to win over voters to re-elect him, we know what Frank’s capable of to get the job done. You know, like urinate on his father’s gravesite, spit on a statue of Jesus, have numerous associates and confidants murdered and rig an entire election behind the scenes for his continued ascent. Is Underwood implying that America needs a leader who’s so cutthroat that he’d do anything to win?

He closes the one-minute trailer with a strong affirmation. “I think America deserves Frank Underwood. And in your heart, you know I’m right.”

House of Cards returns for its fourth season on March 4th. Keep up with the Underwood 2016 campaign via its official website here.
