Two days into 2016, Chris Brown is already under investigation by law enforcement. The singer – who released his Royalty album just last month – is accused of punching a female fan in Las Vegas early Saturday morning in his hotel room.

According to TMZ, the incident between Brown and the alleged victim, Liziane Gutierrez, took place at the Palms Hotel. Gutierrez told police that she had entered Brown’s hotel room and pulled out her phone in an attempt to take a photo of Brown. Brown allegedly became enraged at Gutierrez, shouted at her and then punched her in the eye. Gutierrez did not go to the hospital for her injuries but TMZ has photos of her face following the alleged incident.

A representative for Brown has stated that the entire incident is “undeniably untrue.”

Las Vegas Police are considering Brown a suspect and could possibly charge him with misdemeanor theft and battery. The alleged incident comes weeks after Brown was refused entry into Australia due to his previous convictions for assault, and after the singer had publicly proclaimed that he wanted to become a domestic violence spokesperson. In September, Brown wrote on Twitter in regards to his banishment from Australia, “I would be more than grateful to come to Australia to raise awareness about domestic violence.Im not the pink elephant in the room anymore [Note: That’s when you’re on drugs in a cartoon and no one wants to talk about it]. My life mistakes should be a wake up call for everyone. Showing the world that mistakes don’t define you. Trying to prevent spousal abuse. The youth don’t listen to parents nor do they listen to PSA’s. The power that we have as Entertainers can change lives.”
