If you’ve already made your “Best Albums of 2015” list, Pusha T is doing his damnedest to make you regret it.

El Presidente of G.O.O.D. Music has been dropping banger after banger for his upcoming King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude LP, whether it was lead single “Untouchable” or his most recent release, “Crutches, Crosses, Caskets.”

Tonight, Pusha T appeared as the musical guest on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” where he premiered a new track from the LP, the Jill Scott-featured “Sunshine.” Though Jilly from Philly didn’t herself appear with King Push on the show, Push was backed by a live band, which gave “Sunshine” even more of a raw feel.

And make no mistake, “Sunshine” is dark. It’s a marriage of rock and rap, one over which Pusha Ton spits some of the most conscious raps he’s ever shared. “These ain’t new problems – these old ways/ I seen One Time turn sunshine, into Freddie Gray,” the rapper laments, proceeding to shout out Huey P. Newton, police brutality, and how Blacks are treated differently. Scott’s vocals, as well, sweep over the live instrumentation in an almost ghostly fashion.

Pusha T’s King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude LP, on which “Sunshine” appears, touches down this Friday, December 18th. Pre-order the album now on iTunes.
