Kid Cudi is an influencer. The Cleveland musician has made plenty of waves since his 2008 debut mixtape A Kid Named Cudi and subsequent albums, each going further and further into territory of a man playing by his own rules. After delaying his ESpecial tour, Cudder instead drops his Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven album on iTunes. The 26 (!) track album is mostly a punk rock affair with plenty of Beavis & Butthead samples and no guest features or collaborators, aside from Plain Pat. The purpose of an album like Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven for Cudi is a simple one, an exercise in fighting depression and mental disorder that once had him combating thoughts of suicide. The results? A real, real mixed bag, even something the staunchest of Cudi supports can at least admit. Stream Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven below via Spotify and purchase it on iTunes.
