BJ The Chicago Kid - The Resume f. Big KRIT

B.J. The Chicago Kid has already made his upcoming In My Mind LP one of the more anticipated releases of next year. The Motown crooner has two singles thus far – “Church” and the Raphael Saadiq-assisted “Charlie Ray” – that have been more than soulful additions to the Motown crooner’s already impressive catalog. To say nothing of how he’s added to his growing audience by way of featuring on Big K.R.I.T.’s current “Kritically Acclaimed” Tour.

So it makes perfect sense that BJ would recruit The Meridian Monster for his latest single, “The Resume.” A smooth six-minute number, “The Resume” employs a finger-snapping groove, with sweeping strings and a flute at work in the background so that BJ can soulfully go to work. Though the beat is bluesy, “The Resume’s” tone is anything but that – it’s scaled back yet seductive, with BJ insisting that he’ll work his woman’s “body like it’s a 9 to 5” and Big K.R.I.T. going full Barry White baritone when delivering his feature verse.

You can grab B.J. The Chicago Kid’s “The Resume,” featuring Big K.R.I.T., now on iTunes. The Kid’s In My Mind album, on which “The Resume” appears, touches down in January 2016.
