Fabolous - Summer Time Shootout

With the myriad of highly anticipated releases set to land this Thanksgiving, it’s not Future, Erykah Badu, or Lil’ Wayne to drop first, but New York’s own Fabolous.

It may be the fall now, but Fabolous has a Summertime Shootout on deck. Fourteen tracks deep, Summertime Shootout bears appearances from the likes of Nicki Minaj, Trey Songz, Future, Dave East (on the killer album outro “Summertime Sadness”), and Rich Homie Quan, amongst others. Production, on the other hand, comes courtesy of Sonaro, King James Beatz, Araab Muzik, Mark Henry, and more.

Fab tackles a few of the year’s bigger singles this year, including Bryson Tiller’s “Sorry Not Sorry,” Drake’s “Hotline Bling” (re-branded here as “Trapline Bling”), and The Weeknd’s “Tell Your Friends,” serving them well with solid freestyles; but it’s the original material that may make the Fab faithful truly hype. “Doin’ It Well” in title sounds like a homage to the LL Cool J classic, but the Nicki Minaj and Trey Songz-assisted track is a keeper. Daphne LaRue plays a fine counterpart to Loso on “Started Something,” over a smooth instrumental from Araab Muzik. And Fab and Rich Homie Quan trade verses through trap music – before switching things up with something more island-flavored in the final minute – on “Vanilla.”
