When Future dropped his new Rocky theme “Last Breath” a few weeks ago, I thought that might be all the upcoming CREED flick starring Michael B. Jordan might have on its soundtrack beyond an original score. As it turns out, CREED does in fact have a complete soundtrack. Released on Friday, the CREED: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features mostly hip-hop and R&B artists. For those curious as to what music will be playing in the background as you’re watching Michael B. train and box this Thanksgiving, however, you can stream the soundtrack guilt-free thanks to Spotify.

Eighteen tracks deep and propelled forward by the aforementioned “Last Breath,” the CREED OST is a blend of old songs and new material. Donald Glover grabs Jhene Aiko and Vince Staples on the anthemic “Waiting for My Moment.” The Roots and John Legend add a little funk-soul to things by way of “The Fire.” And newcomer emcee White Dave makes a number of appearances, including the K.E.L.L.S. and Young T-assisted turn-up track “In The Kitchen.” The “old” comes by way of classic tracks like Nas & Olu Dara’s “Bridging The Gap,” Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes’ “Wake Up Everybody,” and even 2Pac’s “Hail Mary.”

But perhaps the biggest surprise of the CREED soundtrack, is actress Tessa Thompson. Thompson plays Jordan’s love interest in the film but apparently has a singing voice, too. She flexes her chops on the soundtrack thrice, on “Grip,” the smooth “Breathe” and the pulsating “Shed You,” featuring Saint Heron Records artist Moses Sumney.
