Jay-Von - Can't You See (Freestyle)

Last week, Jay-Von switched things up with his current series of Friday “Fuck A Freestyles,” taking on an R&B jam for once by offering up his own take on Erykah Badu’s “On & On.” Yesterday, the Mo. City emcee went back to formula, dropping a freestyle on Friday evening and once again taking on a classic rap single.

Last night’s victim? The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Can’t You See” single. Branding himself “The Notorious V.O.N.” and recruiting DJ Mosama and frequently collaborator Relli (aka “Puff Relli”) to handle the instrumental, Jay-Von ups the ante on his “Can’t You See (Freestyle)” by literally tailoring his voice to sound like the belated Christopher Wallace, adding bass to his rhymes and even dropping sound bites in the song’s outro. For nearly three minutes, Von brags on his form, his prowess with the opposite sex and, of course, how his competition is no comparison. The only thing the “Can’t You See (Freestyle)” MIGHT be missing? A feminine voice to play the role Total did on the original’s remix.

Jay-Von’s Fuck A EP is on the way.
