Raury - All We Need_cover

It’s proving time for Raury.

The young and refreshing new rapper who used his break-out single “Cigarette Song” to catapult into a lauded mixtape and a 2015 XXL Freshman Class spot is up at bat now. He knows the stakes are high. He knows that his debut album, All We Need, has been much anticipated since he’s dared to be one of the most refreshing voices in hip-hop in a second. Tomorrow, Raury’s LP lands in stores and on online retailers. But in advance of the album’s release, Raury has given Spotify the go-ahead to allow a free stream of the complete album.

Keeping the features to a minimum – with appearances from only Key, the RZA, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, and Big K.R.I.T. on the simply solid “Forbidden Knowledge” – All We Need clocks in at fourteen tracks in length. Raury isn’t coming in unarmed, either, as All We Need is propelled forward by its lead single “Devil’s Whisper” (a song the artist performed live on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”). Armed with his trusty guitar and his conversational flow, Raury can’t seem to miss on All We Need, flourishing on offerings like “Love is Not A Four Letter Word,” “Crystal Express,” and “Peace Prevail.” It’s non-traditional hip-hop in the best way (outro track “Friends” is proof of that, which all but plants its feet in soft rock territory), and might well put Raury in conversation with some of the better projects 2015 has given listeners.
