Kendrick Lamar loves concerts. The Top Dawg Entertainment emcee has always infused his live performances with a certain energy and emotion to where it’s almost like coming down from a Hiii (pun intended) when they’re over.

Keeping with his tradition of going on tour after releasing an album, the rapper took to Instagram today to announce a mini-tour entitled “The 1st Annual Kunta’s Groove Sessions” (likely so named after “King Kunta,” one of the notable cuts from Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly LP earlier this year).

Billed simply as “8 cities. 8 nights. 8 intimate shows,” the Kunta’s Groove Sessions tour will obviously take its cues from TPAB, with the rapper more than likely to perform a wealth of cuts from that album and his debut good kid, m.A.A.d. city. But with an additional tagline of “Dance! Performance! And More!” one has to wonder what else K. Dot may have up his sleeve, besides just the usual special guests.

The dates and select cities for Kunta’s Groove Sessions have not yet been revealed, but here’s hoping Lamar puts Houston on the list. After all, just three years ago, the rapper was ambitious enough to do TWO shows in one night here.

UPDATE: The tour dates and sites have now been revealed by the TDE camp. Houston is absent, but Dallas’s own South Side Music Hall will host Kendrick, the “Wesley Theory” band, and Jay Rock at the end of the month.
