Here’s something for Hollywood hype and Prestige Season. Adam McKay boasted that he had one of the more impressive casts in Hollywood history for his next film and he wasn’t kidding. The Big Short, a film adaptation of the story of how the housing market collapsed and sent the U.S. economy into a recession has a rockstar cast of male leads. Try this on for size, McKay has a movie with the likes of Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell & Ryan Gosling and now you can see the debut trailer for it.

Based on Michael Lewis’ popular 2010 non-fiction book The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, the film chronicles the events leading up to the 2008 recession with the fall of the housing market and the illegal white collar crimes being committed by Wall Street investment firms. It’s a comedy-drama that amps the absurdity of everything that happened in real life to the big screen. McKay penned the screenplay from Charles Randolph’s original script and the film features even more credible co-stars including Marisa Tomei, Melissa Leo, Max Greenfield, and Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts.
