With every leak from D.O.U.G.H.’s impending HGHR GRND mixtape, it becomes more and more obvious that the Tennessee rapper just might be cooking up a monster.

“Another Summer,” the most recent release from D.O.U.G.H. (following July’s “Same Feeling”), is a reflection on the season as fall creeps slowly but steadily forward. But this isn’t your standard summer turn-up song (although D.O.U.G.H. does cleverly slide in a nod to Future’s 2013 smash single “Move That Dope” in the track’s second single).

RVLZ and Tunes Go Boom, D.O.U.G.H.’s usual suspects when it comes to production, handle the boardwork for “Another Summer” as well, providing an instrumental that’s equal parts sinister and murky. It’s the frustration of an ever growing body count and continued mistreatment for people of color put on wax. It’s hard to sum ALL that up in a matter of five minutes, but D.O.U.G.H. tries his damnedest do.

D.O.U.G.H.’s HGHR GRND project, hosted by DJ Break’Em Off – and on which “Another Summer” appears – arrives later this year.
