Disney’s Live-Action ‘The Jungle Book’ Is Darker Than You Thought Brandon Caldwell September 15, 2015 News, TV/Movies Judging from the debut trailer of Disney’s live-action version of The Jungle Book, you may want to avoid bringing your kids to the theater until you see it first. In fact, there may not even be a whole lot of singing involved in Jon Favreau’s take on the classic Disney children’s story. This go-round of The Jungle Book features all the key characters and marries them with an absolute ton of CGI effects. Favreau’s version of The Jungle Book features plenty of shadowy jungle, a sweet-talking snake that puts Mowgli in a trance, a huge ape that digs more on King Louie and of course, Shere Khan doing his best in his attempts to kill the boy and rule the jungle. It’s far more kin to the stories that author Rudyard Kipling penned about the fabled jungle than the original Disney translation, which may make this version of The Jungle Book a box-office success. See the trailer below. Near the end of the two-minute clip, there’s Baloo, voiced by Bill Murray whistling the classic “Bear Necessities” tune. The Jungle Book is rounded out with an all-star cast that includes Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johanssen, Ben Kinglsey and Christopher Walken. Catch it in theaters next summer.
