Since dropping off their rock mixtape #000000 & #FFFFFF last year, Los Angeles-based band The Neighbourhood has remained relatively quiet on the new music front. Not for nothing, as they’ve spent much of the past few months touring. But they’ve finally found their way back to the studio, and have a new LP on the way entitled WIPEDOUT!. Today, The Neighbourhood revealed “R.I.P. 2 My Youth,” the first single from the upcoming album.

Released by way of a music video, “R.I.P. 2 My Youth’s” black and white visuals seem to match perfectly with the song itself – an upbeat feel attached to a somber, if sobering message. The video itself has a young girl dancing and spinning in a graveyard, for example, as the sun shines through palm trees in the background. As a song, “R.I.P. 2 My Youth” is bleak but reflective, neither discouraging nor uplifting – it’s simply just honest.

The Neighbourhood’s WIPEDOUT LP, on which “R.I.P. 2 My Youth” appears, is slated to arrive later this year. The “R.I.P 2 My Youth” single itself, however, will be available for purchase on iTunes tomorrow.
