strange sounds

Houston producer Tony Dark joins forces with New Jersey native Dey Bishop for the second volume of The Strange Sounds of Vincent Stevens.

Consistent with volume one, the EP consists of only 5 tracks; and every one is absolutely necessary. From beginning to end, there is a soulful and authentic hip-hop feel to both Dark’s production and Bishop’s full lyricism. The often haunting instrumentation creates a backdrop for a flow that is not only content heavy, but feels far beyond the 20 years Dey Bishop has lived. This young man has bars for days. “Guess Who ‘Loves You'” is definitely a stand out track as it finds Bishop opening up and being introspective over a beautiful sample by Dark that is soft but, powerful. “TYSFYS” is the longest track on the EP and features a hidden track at the end that gets really emotional. Bishop shines on every second of it.

Between the organic production and impressive lyricism, Tony Dark and Dey Bishop put together something worth speaking of. Parts of the EP feel uncomfortable in the best way possible, in true hip-hop form. It’s concise, genuine and most of all, it’s high quality. Dey Bishop is an artist to take note of, his lyrical abilities are out of this world. Listen below and purchase The Strange Sounds of Vincent Stevens Volume 2 here.
