Teedra Moses - Cognac & Conversation_cover

This past Friday marked the end of what seemed like a decades’ long journey for R&B singer Teedra Moses. The singer, whose last TRUE album and debut Complex Simplicity released in 2004, never stopped hustling or working; she aligned herself with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group and thus commenced work on her sophomore project, in the meantime releasing teasers of sorts in the Luxurious Undergrind mixtape and last year’s California Vibes EP.

Now, in 2015, all of Moses’ hard work, perseverance, and dedication has come alive and manifested in her sophomore album, Cognac & Conversation, released on August 7th. But if you’re still unsure as to whether The Lioness still has it, Teedra has partnered with Spotify to allow a free stream of the entire album.

Fifteen tracks in length and featuring the likes of Anthony Hamilton, 3D Na’tee, and Rick Ross, Cognac & Conversation should signal a return to the spotlight for the self-proclaimed Lioness. Buoyed by the singles “All I Ever Wanted,” “Get It Right,” and “That One,” the album has a mix of dance club feel in some places (see the upbeat intro track “RU Scared” and the slight flirtation with EDM that is the Rick Ross-featured “Cognac & Conversation,” which is a radio single in the making) and slow-burning grooves in others, like “Skin Diver.” That’s not to say that Teedra’s trademark sass is absent from Cognac & Conversation – look no further than the one-two punch that is “Yesterday Ain’t Tomorrow” and “Wish You Were Here” towards the album’s end.
