It’s not a lit if you say that Eric Dingus is the hottest producer in Austin at the moment. The resume and frequent appearances on the October’s Very Own Soundcloud & spots on OVO Radio would tell you so. Kydd Jones, a rapper who has tinkered with his sound enough to secure not only a fan base but plenty of buzz all his own opts for more singing and mood music with “Day 1”. His GR33D tape, which will feature the late Sean Price, Chuck D, Kirko Bangz, Tory Lanez and more stretches his sound from straight-forward party anthems and introspection with hints of help via weed and other spirits to a laid back, almost hypnotic dance. There’s far more autotune, a lot more singing and a lot more connection with the fans who don’t jump towards Kydd Jones’ for just raps. It’s what he gave us on “Vodka & Da Fiji” as well as “Patience,” the latter of which saw its official video debuted by All Def Digital. Listen to “Day 1” from Kydd Jones below and catch the video for “Patience” down bottom as well.
