Dr. Dre finally gave us an answer for why fans are not getting Detox after all these years. “It’s not good enough for the fans,” he said rather abruptly on his Beats 1 Radio show, ‘The Pharmacy’. Instead, we’re getting something entirely different. Compton: The Soundtrack which drops August 7 on Apple Music and iTunes. Ice Cube originally broke the news that we were getting a brand new Dr. Dre album in the coming weeks during a press run for Straight Outta Compton. Dre decided to break the news while Drake’s usual OVO Sound Radio was preempted due to the Toronto rapper gearing up for what may possibly be the most important OVO Fest of his career. Compton: The Soundtrack shapes up to be something similar to Jay Z’s American Gangster album as most of the album was recorded during the principal shooting for Straight Outta Compton, the NWA biopic which lands August 14th.
