Since March, we’ve come to grips that Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly is a whirlwind of an album attempting to do so much in an 80-minite runtime. The layers of how Lamar has visually presented the album have been that of joy, outright church with people dancing, partying, cheering and moving.

“Alright” is the third video from the album and Colin Tilley’s master stroke finds Lamar cascading through the streets of Oakland and Los Angeles using the city like his own trapeze. There’s winding shots of a group of cops carrying a Lowrider occupied by Black Hippy like a parade march and so much swept up in black & white hues that it’s a lot to take in and appreciate.

All three “singles” if you will from To Pimp A Butterfly have all dealt with self-consciousness and battling depression. Self-worth and purpose. Take that for what you will and dive into the stunning “Alright” video above.
