Bigg Fatts - Snackin 4 Beats_cover

After weeks of roll out and promotion – including an advance listening/release event at Social Junkie earlier this month – Houston rapper Bigg Fatts’ Snackin 4 Beats mixtape has finally arrived today. In many ways, Snackin 4 Beats is Fatts’ biggest project to date: if Fast Food and Appetizers may be considered its predecessors, then Snackin’ is the local  emcee serving up a full course of his lyrical dexterity and upping the quality of his product to an even higher level.

But just as its title implies, Snackin’ 4 Beats isn’t an entirely original project. It’s twelve tracks of unsaturated Fatts, mostly over other peoples’ instrumentals. Fatts makes short work of Cardo’s instrumental for Jeezy’s “Seen It All; and he floats over the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Sky’s The Limit” (before proceeding to demolish Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot N*gga” on the same track).

Fatts isn’t the only one eating on the project. Dante Higgins makes his first musical appearance in months on “Somewhere on the Southside Freestyle.” EXPRESS and Mr. Feature Killer himself Rob Gullatte show off on the anthemic “Know No Good.” And Relli and Duck provide solid assists to Fatts on the standout cut “Always Care” and “Neva Eva,” respectively. Additional production comes at the hands of DJ Tazer and Killa Tex.
