There was a time when emcee Dante Higgins was crowned the reigning King of Lyricism in Houston, a sentiment cosigned by the Houston Press who once named him the “Lyricist of the Year.”

Now, after a hiatus of sorts, Higgins is back to reclaim this throne. On a rainy Wednesday night, he provided a select audience with a sneak peek into his upcoming project, Good Forever.

On Good Forever – which will include features from Tawn P, M.A.C., MC Beezy and production by Negative 7, Donnie Houston, Killa Tex, Poledore, Charity E. Vaughn and more – Higgins delivers a worthy addition to a discography that includes School Boy Music and other sleeper hits.

With Houston’s underground talent pool currently full of an eclectic mix of artists and producers alike, Dante Higgins’ emphasis on a mix of mellow tracks full of potent lyrical punches, easily serves as a reminder that the King is back.
