Playing Gay according to Kevin Hart[@KevinHart4real] Will Pharaoh February 6, 2015 TV/Movies We’ve seen the formula for nabbing an Academy Award after portraying a gay character be quite successful. From Matthew McConaughey portrayal in the Dallas Buyers Club, Sean Penn playing the iconic activist Harvey Milk, and recently Benedict Cumberbatch is looking to join the ranks through his performance in The Imitation Games. With the recent fire that has been growing for Kevin Hart’s career will Kevin Hart began to look into grabbing a Oscar by following this formula? Apparently this is not in the cards for the comedian. Not before we get a swarm of viewer taking this into a negative context towards Kevin, let clear up what he exactly means. Recently during promoting his upcoming film The Wedding Ringer, Hart was question about portraying a gay character in the future of his career. I can’t. Not because I have any ill will or disrespect. It’s because I don’t think I’m really going to dive into that role 100 percent because of insecurities about myself trying to play that part. Does that make sense? After hearing his explanation, clearly there is in no way evidence of him giving any sort of anti-gay sentiment in his statement. The question surfaced when Hart mention that he was once considered for the role of Alpha Chino in Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder. For all those that have maybe forgotten, the role was played by Brandon T. Jackson and character was a closeted gay man know for the sexiest antics, over the top sexual lifestyle, and his brand products, Booty Sweat and Bust-in-a-Nut. Even though this community is now more accepted in mainstream society, you have to admire Kevin Hart for his morality. There are plenty of actors who refuse to step over their boundaries when come to portraying certain characters. But only time will tell, as he mention, he will need more experience in his career before so.
