A brief reminder. Daniel Bryan is arguably one of the greatest wrestlers in history. He was part of the WWE’s biggest angle and payoff in 2013/2014 when he battled The Authority. He was thought to be retiring last month but instead said “f*ck all that” and told us he was coming back at the Royal Rumble.

So is he going to pull a Triple H in 2002 and work his first match at the Rumble? Well, no. Not at all. We’re about to get our first taste of the American Dragon in almost 8 months on Smackdown! of all places.

WWE.com has learned that the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion will make his in-ring return to action on SmackDown monumental Thursday night premiere. The news comes on the heels of Bryan’s announcement during the Dec. 29 edition of Raw that he would once again lace up his boots after a long-standing injury to battle in the 2015 Royal Rumble Match.

So here’s the question. With Smackdown moving back to Thursday nights, who do you trust with the former MVP of the company? We all may want the inevitable Daniel Bryan vs. Kevin Owens/Hideo Itami/Finn Balor/Sami Zayn/Adrian Neville/Brock Lesnar matchups but if anything, they’re probably going to give Daniel a halfway decent softie.

Or Kane, definitely Kane.
