You see, the image above of Daniel Bryan hoisting Ric Flair’s WCW Title and Hulk Hogan’s WWE title at WrestleMania XXX was the happiest one I got out of pro wrestling in 2014. Know what life has been like for Daniel Bryan since his life went supernova and he landed at the top of the company? Well, he got injured, it forced him to relinquish the WWE World Heavyweight Title in June and he’s been out ever since. Oh and he got married to a model (personally John Cena even won THAT fight but I digress) but lost his dad. All in the same calendar year. Plenty of highs and lows for the once American Dragon.

So when you get “Daniel Bryan just said some cryptic stuff on Twitter” sent to your texts early in the afternoon, you begin to worry. You think he’s going to step out in front of a live audience and tell the world that he’s indeed done. That for the safety of his future with his wife, he’s willing to hang up his boots and end a 15-year career that only fans of the independents truly got to enjoy and those who’ve been there since day one with him back at Shawn Michaels’ Texas Wrestling Academy wanted to see. We wanted Daniel Bryan to land on the big stage, walk around with the top prize and make it mean something more than a bunch of transitional mess for “storyline” purposes.

Life almost robbed us of that.

Then Daniel Bryan proverbially said, “F*ck that” and announced he was entering the 2015 Royal Rumble. A New Year’s miracle! Oh and if you’re looking for a short and sweet RAW recap, let’s just say The Authority is back and John Cena really doesn’t have much of a spine. Seth Rollins delivered his best heel segment ever and a lot of character development and intentions were given to guys like Cesaro & Ryback. Plus, the Usos are Tag champions again and we’re probably headed towards a Miz/Mizdow match at the Rumble.

But the best news? The YES! Movement means something again and now we’re back on course for Daniel Bryan versus Brock Lesnar for that big class ring belt in San Francisco at WrestleMania 31. Hopefully. Because the WWE may be dense enough to think a Roman Reigns Rumble victory is what’s best for business and he has to “look strong”.
