Houston’s House of Blues has a new leading man. Stand-up comic and veteran DJ Rudy Rush will host a new monthly show at the famed venue, beginning December 27th. Stand-up comedy, poetry and of course live music will fill the air with the charismatic Rush orchestrating the evening. This is Rudy Rush’s official debut as a Houston-based comic. The multi-talented funny man first gained popularity in New York, and then in Dallas. Last year, he secured the plum 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. weekly drive time slot on iHeartMedia’s 93.7 The Beat.

The New York native gained notoriety as a radio personality while working on nationally syndicated radio shows including “The Ride with Doug and DeDe” and “The Doug Banks Morning Show”. In 2000 he landed the role as host of “Showtime at the Apollo”, making him the youngest host of the long-running African-American syndicated show.

“Success is not a solitary achievement,” says Rush. “I’m surrounded by a great group of professionals at the radio station and I am part of a talented lineup of artists who appreciate the value of focus and hard work. It’s a win-win”.

Sol-Caritas’ President Carlos Wallace says, “Sol is made up of a diverse, outstanding group of artists successful in their own right, yet committed to the growth of the team. No one artist will ever be more important. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with. Rudy adds a body of work and spirit of support that compliments this philosophy, and makes him a perfect fit to host the new show at House of Blues.”
