Bobby Shmurda’s meteoric rise from Brooklyn street kid to owner of a platinum record has been one of 2014’s most notable discussions.

The end to his year may yield even more.

The rapper was arrested last night in New York City according to Kati Cornell, director of public information in the office of the city’s special narcotics prosecutor. While charges against the 20-year-old rapper weren’t specified, the news isn’t good. “These arrests were the result of a long-term investigation,” Cornell told Wondering Sound. “My office has a sealed indictment against a number of individuals.”

The indictment is set to be unsealed tomorrow (December 18) and could lead to a number of charges against Shmurda (real name Ackquille Pollard) from narcotic trafficking and assaults. He’s expected to be dropping his debut album for Epic in 2015 following the success of his “Hot Nigga” single which peaked on the Billboard charts at 7 and his latest record, “Bobby Bitch”.

Shmurda has been arrested previously this year for felony gun possession in June and was granted extended bail. He was also arrested in October on marijuana possession. Label reps declined to comment.
