I’ve long joked that John Legend’s voice is timeless, that he can casually make records such as “Glory” with Common and they could exist not only in a gospel realm. “Glory” comes at a rather coincidental time for both Legend and Common as the Chicago rapper mentions “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot,” marching in Ferguson and more while Legend’s vocals continue to climb up and down in that soul refrain he’s done now for most of his career. “Glory” is set to appear on the upcoming soundtrack to Selma, the Martin Luther King biopic starring David Oyelowo which will be released in theaters on December 25th.
