More than any rapper before her in a burning bright light, Nicki Minaj is private. She rarely teases info about what is going on in her personal realm outside of catty eyelashes, colorful garments and sex kitten allure. The real Minaj, the one who has made an appearance on previous Pinkprint singles such as “Pills N Potions” and “Bed Of Lies” rears her head again for “All Things Go,” maybe louder and clearer than ever.

Minaj discusses her family, the one she still supports and their ups and downs. She detailed this in her recent Complex feature but the lyrics displayed on the Ester Dean co-written track are plain as day. The pain of losing a child at 16 is the biggest spot on the record where Minaj raps, “My child with Aaron would have been 16, any minute/ So in some ways I feel like Caiah is the both of them/ It’s like he’s Caiah’s little angel, looking over him.”

The woman Nicki wants to be is the one she faces in the mirror every day. The one who doesn’t get gassed for award show parties or the glitzy trappings. In the end, beyond the mascara, moscato promotions and criticisms, she just wants people to understand her — the scarred yet still strong her. Stream “All Things Go” below. Fans will get “All Things Go” when they pre-order The Pinkprint on iTunes featuring Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Drake, Ariana Grande, Skylar Grey, Meek Mill and more.
