If one’s original education to Swishahouse involved “Big Ballin”, that frantic Temptations “Ball Of Confusion” bass line stretched to infinity led by Big Tyte then D-Boss’ “Big Ballin 2014” update will no doubt crack a smile on your face. J-Dawg (are we ever going to get Behind Tint, Vol. 3?), Paul Wall & Slim Thug represent the Northside sons who never did jump on the beat when it was originally in circulation and D-Boss outfits himself here with enough of a grin and charm to remain on his feet. Points here for Slim returning to some of his comical roots, claiming he’s shut down more blocks than the number of Watts tapes and smoked more pounds of weed than what Paul Wall’s weight loss.

The real charm form “Big Ballin 2014” here is that it’s the first track released with a verse from the recently deceased M.U.G. It feels celebratory more than somber, the SDS rapper still clobbering verses from the great beyond. Hear “Big Ballin 2014” below.
