The oft controversial Lifetime biopic of the late singer is set to air in November.

Via Twitter, the television network announced that Aaliyah: Princess OF R&B would air Saturday, November 15th. Disney star Zendaya was originally cast to play the late R&B singer who died in 2001 but backed out due to overwhelming public criticism. Nickelodeon’s Alexandra Shipp stepped in her place and Wendy Williams was announced to be an executive producer of the film.

Aaliyah’s family has long been against the Lifetime biography, citing that the singer’s life was too big to be reduced to a TV movie. The film is based on Christopher Farley’s Aaliyah: More Than A Woman biography.
