Big KRIT - Underground Edition Release

For years, we’ve been saying that Big K.R.I.T. may have dropped a ball in giving us his earliest releases for free. When K.R.I.T.ical dropped his debut K.R.I.T. Wuz Here back in 2010, he initiated a campaign of sorts of dropping album-quality mixtapes. It was far from a novel concept, but it wasn’t until K.R.I.T. did it in ’10 and again in ’11 with Return of 4eva that it seemed to become a trend amongst artists to start releasing high-quality, potent mixtape projects, some of which ended up eclipsing their albums. (That, arguably, happened to K.R.I.T. himself, given how his debut LP Live From the Underground was considered slightly underwhelming given his mixtape releases).

It looks like the Mississippi rapper now intends for us to put our money where our mouths have been.

Earlier today, Big K.R.I.T. announced that he would be dropping “The Underground Edition,” a limited series of re-releases of his major mixtapes in cassette (for you old school tape playas), CD, and vinyl records formats. Each Underground Edition pack contains copies of K.R.I.T.’s four major mixtapes – K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, Return of 4Eva, 4Eva N A Day, and King Remembered in Time – in a specially designed slipcase, packaged with a t-shirt, poster, and stickers.

It’s an ideal gift for the K.R.I.T. lover in your life, and also a chance for you to experience – or re-experience – some of the rapper’s finest work as we (im)patiently wait for his sophomore album Cadillactica. The prices range from $49.99 to $79.99. Check the gallery below to get a glimpse at each Underground Edition pack. And head on over to Nature Sounds to pre-order one for yourself.
