Zendaya Coleman Playing Aaliyah In A Biopic Is Your #FakeMad News Of The Day Brandon Caldwell June 16, 2014 News, TV/Movies 1 Comment Long before you knew it, VH1 had commissioned a biopic for the late Aaliyah Haughton. After plenty of rumors about whom would play the late singer/dancer, apparently the producers and VH1 have found their lady. Per Necole Bitchie, Disney alum/singer Zendaya Coleman will be stepping into the Tommy Hilfiger gear of the Detroit singer. Here’s more on the situation: Back in September, Aaliyah’s uncle Barry Hankerson let the cat out of the bag that a biopic was in the works, and soon after, whispers of a casting call made their way online. BET host Keshia Chanté, who has been lobbying for the role for years, even alluded to her Facebook fans that she tried out for the part, but it was Zendaya who ended up coming out on top. Here’s why the outrage is all over Twitter and social media. Coleman doesn’t necessarily look like Aaliyah nor does she seem qualified to get the gig. That is what your average super Aaliyah stan will say. Never mind the fact that we said the same thing about Lil Mama playing Left Eye in the TLC biopic and she absolutely stole the show. Now let’s be actually mad about other things, such as the fact we’re now devoid of anything relatively interesting in sports for the next three months.
