Robin Thicke - Paula

Robin Thicke is taking the concept of “wanting that old thang back” to entirely new levels.

Ever since Thicke and his estranged wife, actress Paula Patton, announced their separation back at the early part of the year, the singer has been attempting to use his music – amongst other things – to carve out a path to forgiveness and redemption. At each of his concert tour stops this year, Thicke has dedicated his breakout hit single “Lost Without U” to Patton; and at the Billboard Music Awards, he premiered “Get Her Back,” the first single off of his upcoming as-yet-untitled album (he’s since performed the song on NBC’s talent showcase ‘The Voice’). The song was an obvious nod to his Paula.

So. When your ex don’t want ya… and dedicating songs to her can’t do nothin’ for ya… what do you do? Step it up and name the whole damn album after her.

No, seriously. According to Rap-Up Magazine, Robin Thicke’s seventh studio album and follow-up to his 2013 LP Blurred Lines, is slated to be entitled Paula.

Look, you have to give the man some credit. Many women would love to be immortalized in song, or be flattered to know that they inspired an artist’s body of work. Some men cheat on their wives and never bother looking back once. Then again, Paula Patton is much more gorgeous than the ordinary wife, so it makes sense that Thicke is campaigning hard on the #SimpThroughIt trail. Whether or not this bold gesture will win him his wife back… well, we’ll find out when Paula touches down next month on July 1st.
