Three years ago, Jazmine Sullivan abruptly retired from making music in a series of cryptic tweets, all at the age of 23. It felt like Love Me Back, her 2010 sophomore disc would be either the last say she had in regards to music, a powerful mix of emotional upheaval and runs but then Sullivan found herself, comfortable in her own skin again and ready to return.

“Dumb” marks her official welcome back to the world of music on a tried and true topic for her – relationships. “If you won’t ever change, please stop wasting my time,” she croons over a layer of pitter-patter snares and repetitive “dumb” backing vocals. Meek Mill arrives to offer a man’s perspective on the situation but Sullivan is already at ultimatum mode, affirmative and quite sure of herself in letting go. Stream the single below. Sullivan will also be making an appearance at ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans during July 4th weekend.
