Yesterday after months of speculation, back and forths, insane scoring binges and more, Kevin Durant made it official as the NBA crowned him its league MVP after a masterful regular season averaging 32/7/5, which has been done only three times before to my knowledge. The voting wasn’t close either as Durant picked up 119 first place votes with the other six going to last year’s MVP, LeBron James.

It’s KD’s first MVP award and he decided to let everyone know it during his acceptance speech. If you’ve got seven minutes to spare, make sure the Kleenex is nearby because Durant runs the gamut of people to thank, individual teammates, those who picked him up from his humble beginnings in Maryland and of course his mother Wanda, who he declared with tears in his eyes was “the real MVP”.
