DJ Rashad, the juke and footwork pioneer who made plenty of headway in 2013 with his Double Cup album died Saturday of an apparent drug overdose according to Chicago police. He was 35 years old.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Rashad’s body was found by a friend. The news of his death was tweeted by DJ Godfather who was scheduled to perform with Rashad last night.

Rashad’s death marks the second major death in the Chicago DJ community this year following the passing of DJ Frankie Knuckles in March.
