This is not the best week to be in the San Francisco 49ers PR department.

Aldon Smith, the Niners star linebacker who already has a pretty weird history with the law was arrested Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport after airport cops say the LB yelled “bomb” inside of the airport. Seeing that we’ve already had one joke gone awry with airplanes today, this is just par for the course, right?

Smith was pulled out for a secondary screening by TSA officials at LAX when he became belligerent, disapproving of the entire notion and then said one of the magic words you don’t say at an airport in a post-9/11 world. In the past two years Smith has had a myriad of problems with the law.

In 2012 he was arrested and charged with DUI in Miami. Later that year he was involved in a fight at a party at his house where he suffered stab wounds. He was subsequently charged with three counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon and is awaiting trial on that charge. In 2013 before spending time in rehab during the season he was arrested following a single car accident in San Jose, California where police say he was in posession of marijuana and was driving under the influence.
