And the TDE train just keeps right on rolling along.

Isaiah Rashad kicked things off in January, ScHoolboy Q released OXYmoron last month, and to start off March, Top Dawg Entertainment’s other rookie, the singer SZA, is laying the foundation for her own album. Earlier today, SZA debuted her new single, “Babylon,” by way of a music video.

Initially kicking things off with some bluesy guitar strings – by way of production from Mac Miller/Larry Fisherman – this “intro” soon reveals itself to be nothing more than a teaser of another possible album cut, “U R” of SZA posted up on a hill adorned in her token overalls and white sneakers. The real story begins at the 40-second mark, as we find the singer alone in the woods, seemingly stripping down and skinny dipping in a shirt and socks. But this is no thirst trap under construction. “Babylon” is about letting go of the material trappings of this world, perhaps at a fatal cost. The DJ Dahi-produced number of snares and chirps provides a perfect complement to SZA’s voice, which is as haunting as the simplified visuals themselves.

In addition to unveiling the new song, SZA also hinted to her debut album Z’s release date. Looks like we may be seeing Z as early as April 8, 2014.
