Melat - Golden

In a stark contrast to the ethereal sounds that made up her most recent EP, Canon Ourania: The Illumination, Melát’s first major drop of 2014 is much more mainstream.

Not that that’s a bad thing at all. For “Golden,” the songstress’s newest single, Melát channels a ’90s feel that will surely bring back memories of R&B’s golden age, with help from producer Jansport J’s tapping drums and flutes. Melát’s breathy voice floats over the instrumentation nicely. It’s by far her most marketable, radio-ready release, and “Golden” will certainly find its way enlivening up a crowd at SXSW next month onto radio if not onto many playlists heading into the spring.
