Pharrell - G I R L-cover

Last night while most of us were sleeping, Pharrell snuck a surprise out for the late night crowd.

Turns out that the singer-rapper-producer hasn’t just been smashing features and production credits for others over the last few months – Pharrell has allegedly completed a full-blown LP, entitled G I R L, and it’s headed our way the first week of March, according to a trailer he unveiled on his twitter. The trailer consists of footage of Pharrell in the studio working with a live violin quartet and wearing a hat in the booth (albeit a straw one, and not his token Grammy Ranger Rick hat).

Thus far, all we know about the album is the above cover artwork and that it will contain ten tracks, one of which will be his current smash single “Happy.” But over the course of the next week and a half as the album’s expected release date approaches, we’ll likely get a lot more clarification on everything to the definition behind the title (it’s likely an acronym) to an official tracklisting. But given that Pharrell and producer Chad Hugo reunited on stage during NBA All-Star Weekend, the hope is high that there’ll be some kind of NERD collab on the album.

Pharrell’s G I R L album touches down March 4th, though you can preorder the album now on iTunes and receive an MP3 of “Happy” as an early bonus.
