iTunes Festival_SXSW

And let the SXSW announcements begin.

For the last few years, Apple’s iTunes Festival has become a staple of showcasing established and rising music artists, by way of a completely free concert series. Since its inception in 2007, the Festival has taken place overseas in London. This year, however, Apple’s bringing it back home – and the 2014 iTunes Festival will take place in Austin, Texas, at SXSW.

“The iTunes Festival has become an incredible way for Apple to share its love of music with our customers,” Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, stated in a press release earlier today. “We’re excited about the incredible lineup of artists performing and SXSW is the perfect place to debut the first iTunes Festival in the US.”

Slated to take place at Austin’s Moody Theater (the home of Austin City Limits) for the duration of SXSW’s Music Week – March 11th through March 15th – Apple hasn’t unveiled the full line-up of performers just yet, but we do know that Coldplay, Imagine Dragons (who we can’t help hoping they’ll have Kendrick Lamar present for another live rendition of the “Radioactive (Remix),”) and Willie Nelson are amongst the headliners for each night.

If you’re unable to make your way down to Austin, not to worry – Apple will also provide a free stream of each night’s performances via the iTunes Store, the iTunes Festival app, and through AppleTV.
