George Zimmerman’s fight with DMX is officially off.

Promoter Damon Feldman announced the cancellation on the fight via Twitter Saturday afternoon, stating that “people’s feelings” meant more to him than making any actual money off of it.

“I want to thank everyone for the good n bad comments I’ve made the choice to cancel the fight w George Zimmermann [sic] more to life then [sic] money,” Feldman posted.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted in 2013 of second degree murder in the death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was set to face off against rapper DM in a charity bout. The response to the fight was met with vitriol from plenty of parties calling it tasteless and not helping anyone in any case, especially the Martin family.

“Just looked at my son and daughter today wow I’m so lucky those people must be in so much pain,” Feldman said. Despite the fight being off, he did warn on Friday that somebody, if not him was going to put on the fight. The promoter was to go into a weekend Twitter hiatus following multiple threats and serious discussions with people who did not want to see the fight take place.
