The city of Houston will once again unite for a good cause at “The Charity Bowl,” a flag football tournament organized by Truth 2234 and the ladies of the Simply Born Initiative who continue to promote social change and responsibility throughout the community. The Simply Born Initiative’s non-traditional fundraising efforts over the last few years have brought attention to several local charities and The Charity Bowl is no exception, as this event aims to collect donations benefiting both the Easter Seals of Greater Houston and the Houston Food Bank.

The event is FREE to attend, but attendees are encouraged to bring can goods and non-perishable items to help aid the fight to end domestic hunger in Houston. Monetary donations will also be accepted. The tournament will feature six teams, comprised of local tastemakers, media professionals, and recording artists; and yes, even some of the Day & A staff – under the banner of “Team Dream Chasers” – will lace up their cleats and head to the gridiron to represent in this fun initiative:

  •  Team 1836
  • Team Headwreckas
  • Team Dream Chasers
  • Team Mo Bang
  • Team First Klass
  • Team Numb3rs

The Charity Bowl will take place at Hunter’s Glen Park in Missouri City, Texas, at 1340 Independence Blvd., from 1-4 pm this Saturday, January 18; and food vendor Stufferz will be on-hand with their infamous stuffed burgers. With the NFL Super Bowl just weeks away, this event is sure to keep everyone in the spirit as we count down to the end of professional football Sundays.
