The radio wars in Houston have greatly intensified in only a week. Since their grandiose arrival on December 31st, 93.7 The Beat has made no qualms about wanting to pull listeners away from 97.9 The Box, starting with the announcement of The Breakfast Club hitting their airwaves starting on Tuesday, January 21st and constantly berating the long standing hip-hop & R&B brand in its promo slots.

Now you can add a formerly “banned” man to that list as well.

Trae Tha Truth, who has been banned from being heard on all Radio One stations across the country (97.9 is owned by Radio One) since 2009 found his “Hold Up” single from last year’s I Am King played on The Beat. If that’s part of the station’s three step program in order to lieu listeners away from 97.9 The Box, they’re most certainly doing the job.
