Doughbeezy - I'm from Texas

Should we call him Santa Beezy? Or Dough Claus? Whichever name you choose to roll with, Doughbeezy wasn’t about to let an approaching holiday keep him from continuing his #MondaysOnTheMoon promo tear, as the countdown has officially begun for Dough’s highly-anticipated Footprints On The Moon project to drop in the early part of next year. Earlier today, Dough tweeted “F*ck y’all, I’m from Texas”; and what initially looked to be a boastful show of state pride, was actually a foreshadowing of this week’s #MondaysOnTheMoon drop – a new single from Dough entitled “I’m From Texas.”

With Trakksounds and Chinky P on the boards handling production, it’s apparent from the opening trance-like flourishes that “I’m From Texas” is something epic in the making. And shortly after its beat drops, the self-proclaimed South East Beast launched into a vicious flow, switching between rapid-fire rhymes on the verses and slowing it down just enough on the song’s hook. Though it’s Houston through and through, this is a statewide anthem, as Dough takes care to shout out the H (“from the Nawfside out to the Tre!”), Dallas, 6th Street in Austin, and even Port Arthur and Beaumont.

As single built as it is – arguably leaps and bounds more radio-friendly than Dough’s “Ridin’ Round” drop earlier this month – there’s sure no way local radio sleeps on “I’m From Texas,” right? Right?? Doughbeezy’s Footprints On The Moon album touches down January 14, 2014.
